I would to have some suggestions for math programs that work well with children on the Autism spectrum.

  • In my experience children with ASD usually respond very well to rhythm and music. However, individual tastes can vary. I recommend letting the child listen to sample clips on the product pages of Rock ‘N Learn math videos.

  • For the past 18 years I have worked with students who have learning disabilities in mathematics. What I have learned is that what works well with one student may not work well for another. Each of us are different and so are our students.

That being said, in my efforts to meet the needs of struggling students my company, Teach 4 Mastery, has created resources that have been shown to work well with students on the Autism spectrum. The consistency of the manipulatives and the video lessons provide direct correlations for the student to make connections.

Another program that I have found to have a usually positive affect is Math-U-See.

     Hope that helps!

  • I agree that all children with ASD are different. While I love Life of Fred, I don't think it would work well for a child who needs something that is very structured and routine. You might consider Singapore.
